The Albany Police Pipes and Drums is planning on competing at the All-Ireland Pipe Band Championships. The 2011 All Ireland Pipe Band Championships will be held on in July, in Northern Ireland, city to be determined.
To help defray some of the expenses involved in traveling with a large band to Ireland we will be hosting some fundraisers between now and then, and we would appreciate any and all support.
Our major effort is going to be a pretty significant raffle. We will be giving away the equivalent of a "Trip to Ireland for Two" to travel with the band as we go over to compete. But, to keep things simple, instead of forcing raffle winners to take a dated airline ticket for what could be an inconvenient or ill-timed trip, we will be awarding cash prizes only!
Raffle tickets now available! Winner need not be present to win. Tickets are $20 each, for a first prize of $5,000.00, second prize of $500, and third prize of $250! And we are limiting tickets sales to 1,000. So your chances of winning are a couple million times better than winning the state lottery!
We are also selling band T-shirts, for $20 each or 2 for $30, plus $7 postage and handling. Keep an eye out for them as we have an awesome shirt that solicits compliments whenever its worn. We will be listing the functions when the T-Shirts will be available for sale on our website, so check back often!
